Hostess is closing, Someone please keep making Zingers and Twinkies

It was announced in the news today that the company Hostess will close because of a Bakers union strike.  The company does not have the financial resources to weather this out and had already filed for Chapter 11.  This is sad though as I feel like they should just fire the bakers and continue on.  Because the bakers union can not accept terms everyone at the company loses their job, all 18,500 people.  The sticking point for the union employees is that the company is not paying into their pensions.  Oh grow up people, pensions are a thing of the past, in ten years hardly any jobs will offer them, you have to let your pensions go.  The company said that the rising pension and health care costs are their sticking point.  Other news have reported that these rising health care costs are from Obama Care.

Looking at this I see an end to most mid sized businesses in the US.  Only the huge ones will be able to survive and these other ones will close their doors.  I also will say that working for these chains and big businesses will never make you any money, if you want money start your own business.  More and more small businesses is where it is at.

But what about Twinkies and Zingers, well Hostess will be selling off its assets and that means another company could pick up the rights to one or all of these treats and start their own production.  This may not be a bad thing in the long run but it does mean that a company that is over 80 years old will fall to the Great Depression of the 2000's

I really hope businesses can find a way to be profitable under the repressive laws our country has in place for your sake as well as mine.  Keep in mind as time goes on, you need to do your own retirement, don't trust that the government or your job will be giving you money.  Second, you should probably look into health insurance for yourself and family (this is at times cheaper than adding family members to the plan you have at work)  And third have a plan B, a skill you can do to make some money if all else fails or you get laid off.  For me this is fixing computers, it is my plan B, and sometimes my plan A but I always have my side jobs to fall back on.  Also blogging is starting to fund what will become my retirement.  There is money to be made in Internet Marketing, but it requires a lot of hard work.  I am also trying to teach myself a new skill, I am learning C# programing.

Saying good buy to iPod

Well here I am, I can't sleep, and I am finally just going to call it.  My iPod was either stolen, or thrown away when we moved.  It did not make it.  I have been through every box multiple times.  It sucks, right now I really just need some music to listen to.  I guess the only thing to do now is start remaking my music collection.  This time I will probably find an older Zune to replace that old buggy 80 GB iPod or maybe a newer iPod.

Now I want to say something here, I will never get an iPod Touch, that is worthless.  I believe that the iPod touch is killing the music industry.  Before we loaded song after song onto out iPods because we had the storage.  Now we think twice because we may not have space to load games and apps, and that's not right.  I am a music lover.  The older iPods were where it was at.  When you have 34 GB of music, an iPod Touch is just a joke, sure they have 64 GB models now, but for those of us that take music seriously, we need all that space for music, and nothing else.

As an update, I did find my iPod, this lasted for a few weeks and then the hard drive finally gave out in my iPod. As I have been looking for a replacement I am thinking of just using a new phone that I will be getting in the months ahead.  The music app in Windows Phone is fantastic and I love it compared to iOS.
