It was announced in the news today that the company Hostess will close because of a Bakers union strike. The company does not have the financial resources to weather this out and had already filed for Chapter 11. This is sad though as I feel like they should just fire the bakers and continue on. Because the bakers union can not accept terms everyone at the company loses their job, all 18,500 people. The sticking point for the union employees is that the company is not paying into their pensions. Oh grow up people, pensions are a thing of the past, in ten years hardly any jobs will offer them, you have to let your pensions go. The company said that the rising pension and health care costs are their sticking point. Other news have reported that these rising health care costs are from Obama Care.
Looking at this I see an end to most mid sized businesses in the US. Only the huge ones will be able to survive and these other ones will close their doors. I also will say that working for these chains and big businesses will never make you any money, if you want money start your own business. More and more small businesses is where it is at.
But what about Twinkies and Zingers, well Hostess will be selling off its assets and that means another company could pick up the rights to one or all of these treats and start their own production. This may not be a bad thing in the long run but it does mean that a company that is over 80 years old will fall to the Great Depression of the 2000's
I really hope businesses can find a way to be profitable under the repressive laws our country has in place for your sake as well as mine. Keep in mind as time goes on, you need to do your own retirement, don't trust that the government or your job will be giving you money. Second, you should probably look into health insurance for yourself and family (this is at times cheaper than adding family members to the plan you have at work) And third have a plan B, a skill you can do to make some money if all else fails or you get laid off. For me this is fixing computers, it is my plan B, and sometimes my plan A but I always have my side jobs to fall back on. Also blogging is starting to fund what will become my retirement. There is money to be made in Internet Marketing, but it requires a lot of hard work. I am also trying to teach myself a new skill, I am learning C# programing.

Saying good buy to iPod
Well here I am, I can't sleep, and I am finally just going to call it. My iPod was either stolen, or thrown away when we moved. It did not make it. I have been through every box multiple times. It sucks, right now I really just need some music to listen to. I guess the only thing to do now is start remaking my music collection. This time I will probably find an older Zune to replace that old buggy 80 GB iPod or maybe a newer iPod.
Now I want to say something here, I will never get an iPod Touch, that is worthless. I believe that the iPod touch is killing the music industry. Before we loaded song after song onto out iPods because we had the storage. Now we think twice because we may not have space to load games and apps, and that's not right. I am a music lover. The older iPods were where it was at. When you have 34 GB of music, an iPod Touch is just a joke, sure they have 64 GB models now, but for those of us that take music seriously, we need all that space for music, and nothing else.
As an update, I did find my iPod, this lasted for a few weeks and then the hard drive finally gave out in my iPod. As I have been looking for a replacement I am thinking of just using a new phone that I will be getting in the months ahead. The music app in Windows Phone is fantastic and I love it compared to iOS.

Why I just can't get into Facebook, (long live Myspace)
I finally got into social media in 2005. I thought it was lame at first but got hooked eventually. At one time I was a member of at least 4 or 5 social media sites. My favorite one will always be Myspace. Now I deleted my Myspace in 2010, and I wish I never had. Facebook still lacks so much, the things that made Myspace great. But as anyone knows try finding your friends on Myspace, yeah there all on Facebook, or even Twitter. But I am at the point I think my Facebook is going to be deleted as well and here is why.
1. No blogging. Yeah there is a Note section but if you have ever tried to use it, well it sucks and it's not blogging. Myspace had blogging and you could express your thoughts in long form, not in 140 characters. (come on now Facebook you used to allow more and that was one of the strengths over Myspace's Status Updates) Also at the end of your blog you could put what you were listening, reading, or watching at the time. It told so much about the person your were reading about.
2. No self expression, Facebook is bland, and ugly, you can not create a custom profile, you look like everyone else. Yeah not for the creative.
3. You could have a small play list of music on your page, and even have it start playing a song. This helped me get into so much music, and well Facebook, your lucky to get your band on there in the first place.
4. Those stupid games, of come on now get a life. I'm not going to help you or anything sorry. (no offence honey {my wife plays some games}) I was sad the day they added apps and games to Myspace, bad idea.
5. Confusing privacy controls, the best thing about Myspace was the fact you could change your profile and hide things from view, granted some people struggle with CSS and HTML but there were sites devoted to this kind of thing. My old Myspace was locked down as is my Facebook but it took a lot less time to copy and paste some code.
Now Twitter is easier, Micro blogging, really? No call it what it is, Status Updates. I'm sorry this is a non starter, yeah may be popular with the kids but there is nothing on twitter no real way to post anything. It is just too limited. I honestly thought it was a joke when I first heard about it.
The bottom line is I miss the expression of Myspace compared to whats out there today. I was hoping Google+ was not going to be such a knock off of Facebook. Maybe it will get better and get more integrated with Blogger, they could win me then. Facebook however is more and more disappointing. and starting to get on my "maybe I should delete this" list, for the same reason Myspace got on there, I just really don't log in there anywhere near as much as I used to. And if it does not change soon, it is going to be deleted.
